Day One- Kylie's 4th Birthday Bash!

Kylie had a big surprise waiting for her when we got home from school on Thursday- Grandma B., Uncle Mark and Cousin Connor had already arrived at our house for Kylie's b-day weekend. Kylie and Connor gravitated to each other immediately like long lost friends with hugs and "I love yous" (they hadn't been together since Christmas!). With several days of fun to come we had attempted to make Thursday night an early evening of turning in but there was no way that that was going to happen-they decided to read books together for quite some time! It was practically midnight Connor's time and 11:00pm for Kylie by the time their little bodies fell fast asleep from all of the excitement. 6 short hours later they were ready to go again!

A Birthday Bicycle

As most of you know, this Saturday is Kylie's 4th birthday! Awhile back Pete and I decided a "big girl" bike (I mean "bicycle" as Kylie insists it is called) would be her biggest b-day gift this year. So last week we all headed to Toys R Us to get Kylie fitted for (yes, just like for a pair of shoes, who knew?!) and pick out her new bike.

Kylie overheard the cashier say that her bike would be assembled next Wednesday and ready for pick up. So ever since early last week she has been waiting for today. Immediately as she opened her big blue eyes this morning her entire face lit up with the realization that it was finally WEDNESDAY- the day she would get her new bicycle!

So of course I called the store this afternoon to check on it, and sure enough it was all ready for us to pick up. No sooner did Peyton and I pull into the driveway tonight and there was Kylie- amazingly all finished with dinner and ready to hop into my Jeep which she knew was the bigger car needed to pick up her bike!

Off Daddy and Kylie went to Toys R Us and as soon as they got back home, off Kylie went on her first ride. It couldn't have been a more perfect evening for a bike ride too- nice and warm with the sun still shining. Wow- sometimes we catch a break and things actually work out as planned :)!

Above are some pictures of Kylie enjoying her new ride!

Happy 5 months Peyton!

Spike wishing Peyton a Happy Birthday before school this morning!
--Peyton's new trick is to close her eyes every time I try to get a picture of her. I guess I don't blame her since I've been blinding her with our extra long, strobelight-like flash for 5 months today!

Moving to Houston???!!!

Nah!!! As some of you may be aware, there was some talk about my group going to Houston. Just wanted to let everyone know that I received an org. chart today that has our group staying in the beloved Chicagoland area at least for the short term. Sweet Home, Chicago!!!!

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

Peyton Elizabeth Zerbes SLEPT THROUGH THE ENTIRE NIGHT on the eve of her 5 month birthday! At 5:30 this morning, Daddy actually had to wake her for her bottle and to get ready for the day. Unfortunately he didn't get the perk of actually being well rested today b/c he was up doing work until 2:30AM :( !

YEAH Peyton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a picture of Peyton after she finished her dinner of green beans and rice cereal yesterday. As you can see, she really enjoyed it :)!

Falling apart

So hopefully I'm not at the mid-point of my life at only 33, but lately it feels like I am at some kind of point where everything is falling apart.

Today was not fun. I had some "procedures" done on both of my feet this morning that I'd been putting off for at least 5 years. It was quite painful but after having 2 kids I tend to compare everything to that and somehow it makes whatever it is not so painful :)! I'm managing by slowly hobbling along, but Spike and Kylie will definitely be leaving me in their dust for a few days!

I was also supposed to have my annual eye exam this afternoon but I postponed that until Mon. night. I didn't need dialated eyes and the headaches etc that usually come with that as well as being faced with the fact that I can't see the BIG "E" again. My "feet" appointment was more than enough to deal with for one day!

And then there's tomorrow. I have a dentist appt. to have a root canal done as well as multiple fillings replaced. After that appointment and 4-5 more, my annual dental "maintenance" should be complete!

So as you can see, I seem to be at one of those crossroads in life where multiple things feel like they're falling apart and need to be fixed. Maybe a spa day is in my near future as my reward for taking care of all of these things- did you hear that Daddy :)?!
