Stonebridge Sandlot 2009

Saturday wrapped up the 2009 t-ball season. After no games the past 2 weeks (a rainout and being in MC) the Light Blues met up with the Yellows for the second time this season for the final game. It was a great game, group and solo photos were taken and there was the annual trophy ceremony complete with drinks and cool baseball cupcakes. We supplied the Laffy Taffy which no t-ball season should be without!

Great season Kylie! We're very proud of you for completing 2 summers of t-ball with great listening and sportsmanship! We'll see what next year has in store since this league was only for 4 & 5 yr olds. Mommy feels a drama or dance camp in the near future but we'll see!

Father's Day Live 2009!

Here are some video moments captured from Father's Day weekend at Grandma & Papa B's.

Sorry Daddy!

Kylie you're the cutest!

I love being the one BEHIND the camera- ha ha!

Grillin & Chillin

Feels like that's what Father's Day should be all about! We spent the weekend at Grandma & Papa B's and did just that. Mission accomplished- there was no way we were leaving Daddy here to continue work on the deck stripping. Kylie had such a great time she stayed at Grandma's all week and comes back today- we think! She was having an awful lot of fun with Grandma I hear...

And the fun continues this weekend with Daddy's birthday tomorrow- look out Daddy- brace yourself for another fun weekend whether you like it or not ;)!

RIP King of Pop

Usually my posts center around our family's happenings but tonight I feel the need to write about an event that happened today. An event in pop culture that is catching me a bit off guard as for the feelings it's stirring up for me.

Michael Jackson has died. The King of Pop has died. At only age 50.

There are only a handful of artists that have truly created a memory or have made an impact in my life. Michael Jackson was definitely one of those people. Thriller was my first tape, my first music video for that matter. I clearly remember roller skating to the song and video YEARS ago with my cousins in Cleveland. I remember all of his tv commercials and concerts. Who doesn't make the connection between him and Pepsi even to this day? Who doesn't know the words to almost every song he wrote? Who doesn't remember any event that involved him- good or bad, strange or humanitarian? He was a complex soul that we loved at times, hated at times and sometimes just plain didn't understand.

Today, on the day of his passing, I reflect on the positive memories and contributions he made during my lifetime. I'm feeling old. Life is short. Make it matter!

RIP King of Pop.

Happy Father's Day!

Here's hoping that all Dads out there are having a great Father's Day weekend!

And to our favorite Daddy-

Thank you for all you do Daddy. From nightly bike rides and bath time fun to pillow and blanket games on the couch, you always know how to make the girls smile and have a great time! Your neverending supply of love and selflessness does not go unnoticed and the girls couldn't be luckier to have a Daddy like you!

Enjoy your weekend- we love you!

One day but lots of fun!

A few weeks ago, the girls and I headed to MC for a day trip because Uncle Mark & Connor along with his girlfriend and girls were there for a visit. We went to one of the beaches along the dunes and then went back to Grandma and Papa's to grill out and enjoy the pool.

It was a fun packed day and a quiet ride home! Nice to meet everyone!

Havin' fun at the "beach"

Last week when we actually had some weather that felt like summer, the girls and I headed out to explore Naperville's man made beach- Centennial Beach. It's been in Naperville since 1931 and for some reason in the almost 10 years we've lived out here we've never gone.

The girls of course had a perfect time playing in the water and sand areas and Mommy was pretty proud for being able to successfully handle the outing alone! We spread out our towels, sand toys & lunch and when all the water fun was done, we even walked over to the park to play for awhile.

It was a good afternoon at the "beach"!

A rainy day playdate

Emily, one of Kylie's friends from daycare and the daughter of one of Daddy's former colleagues, joined us for an afternoon of fun today. The girls had a great time having lunch, dressing up like their favorite princess, playing Ponies, Pollys, Barbies & board games and having a popsicle treat. The rain outside definitely didn't stop these 2 from having a great playdate indoors. Thanks Emily for a fun day!
