Back to the books!

It's official- Daddy just finished the first night of his 2nd class on the road to his MBA- yay Daddy! Just remember, nothing worthwhile comes easy. Didn't someone old and wise once say that?! If not, it sounds good ;)!

I'm a big kid now!

All of our sudden our little baby is on the verge of toddlerhood! Just when Pete and I were saying how much older Peyton is acting every day, her daycare teacher tells us she's the next one to move up classes into the TODDLER room- at 15 months- next month! Visions of Kylie sleeping on a cot instead of in a crib, no more bottles, etc came flashing before my eyes!

These days Peyton is at the Miss Independent stage (again!) except for those times when something that she "needs" is just a bit out of her reach or when she wants to be picked up for some hugs and kisses :)! She is really learning her sounds and forming more and more words every day like monkey (and what sound they make: ooo-ooo-ahh-ahh!) and thank you (dat tu).

Here are some action shots I captured tonight- just days after Peyton's 14 month birthday. Perfectly content (and messy!) feeding herself and extremely pleased that she was able to make it up on "the big chair" by herself for the first time ever!

We love you sweetie! We're amazed at all you are becoming so quickly before our eyes. But slow down a little will ya? All of a sudden you're leaving us behind in your dust to toddlerhood :)!

Up she goes...

Ta da! (mohawk compliments of Mommy taking her rubberband out just moments before)

The only "do" we do!

As most of you know, putting things in her hair is something Kylie couldn't care less about! I get the occasional headband or barette in there but that's about it - and that's usually only on picture days or holidays!

All signs point to Peyton being a bit easier to manage when it comes to hair. The one fact being she actually has quite a bit already and the other is that she hasn't let out any blood curdling screams when Mommy even just tries to comb it!

Yesterday was the first time I attempted to put a rubberband in and...SUCCESS! Of course she tried to feel what was up there, but no tears, and after a few minutes she forgot all about it.

Thought I would share a picture of Peyton's "do" that is about the only "do" we do when they're this age! Also found a picture of Kylie sporting the same. It's almost the same time of the year but Kylie's was taken when she was almost twice Peyton's age (almost age 2)! Another thing in common with the photos is that both subjects appear to be snacking- surprise, surprise :)!

A weekend of snow

I feel like this post is pretty generic considering it's January in Chicagoland, but getting over a foot of snow in a day or 2 somehow still feels newsworthy!

Kylie was able to play outside a bit on both days this weekend (for the first time this year) and of course had an absolute blast! We had Peyton's snow gear all ready to go too but unfortunately she and Mr. Fever only got at the action through the window :(.

Does anyone have that bubble for Peyton?

Poor Peyton is having a rough time of it this week :(!

The week she was in for kicked off last Sunday night right before bed. As with most accidents it happened in a split second, appeared to be worse than it really was, and then Mommy & Daddy were left thinking about how bad it could've been for the next several days. Short version, Kylie set Peyton down on the carpet (unfortunately too close to the stairs going upstairs), Peyton turned, lost her balance and then SMACK- forehead right into the stairway oak trim. No broken skin, just a nice shiner that with lots of ice and pressure from Daddy is as good as it's going to be after such a crash!

'Tis the season for colds and flu and Peyton's buddies at daycare are no exception. Hacking coughs, runny noses, the whole enchilada. So far Peyton has avoided coming down with a lot of something, but sometimes even just a little of something is bad enough. With more teeth coming in and a small cold, this is how she has felt all week :(!

Mommy & Daddy will do our best to keep you boo boo free as much as possible this week little one!
