Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Strawberry "Jams"

Kylie is really into Strawberry Shortcake these days - not sure where she first learned of her but nevertheless she loves her and her berry friends! Thanks to Grandma B. for cleaning up all of Mommy's Strawberry Shortcake dolls, complete with their own Strawberry carrying case, and bringing them as a special surprise for Kylie's birthday!
One of Kylie's b-day gifts from Mommy and Daddy was a set containing 2 Strawberry Shortcake dvds, 2 little figurines and the "Strawberry Jams" cd. For any of you other S.S. groupies you can find this treasure at Sam's Club- Mommy's new shopping mall!
Kylie loves the cd and especially Track #1 - 'Straw-Buh-Buh-Buh-Buh-Berry Shortcake' - the theme song to all S.S. cartoon shows, movies, etc. Take a listen if you want to join in the fun: http://kids.aol.com/KOL/2/KOLJrMusic/Video/strawberry-shortcake-jams. I think we have listened to it over 100 times in the car over the past few weeks and it's actually not so bad- for a kid's cd! I'm partial to Track #5- "Strawberry Jammin"- which seems to be a Bob Marley inspired track!
Anyway, the point to this post is that this morning we were bopping along to Track #1 for about the 5th time on the way to school and Kylie noticed one of my hands was off of the steering wheel. She proceeded to say, "Mommy the policeman is going to take you away if he sees you driving and dancing at the same time!". That's the line we use quite often with Kylie when her behavior is less than OK, especially in public. It's particularly effective when there is actually a security guard or someone within eyeshot! The funny part of all this is how quickly my words get turned on me by a 4 year old and is also a reminder of how carefully we need to choose our words b/c they will definitely come back on us sooner or later- the good, the bad or the ugly!!

Snug as a bug in a...
bath towel! This was Peyton about an hour ago right after her bath. I couldn't believe it b/c right before she had woken up from sleeping about 3 hours so I thought we would be up forever tonight before she was ready to go back asleep. She didn't exactly stay like this and go right to bed but after rolling around and looking at her mobile for about half an hour she is now fast asleep. The rest of the gang are snoozing already as well so a few more things to do for me and I will join in for some ZZZs too! Hopefully LOTS of ZZZs before Peyton decides she is hungry again. Have a good week all!
A Smiley Dino
Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs!
Or in Peyton's case, Strawberry Apple Puffs! Peyton had her first "puffs" at lunch today. She did great and seemed to love them! She only had a few because it was right after a big bowl of rice cereal and carrots (yum?!). It reminded us of what lifesavers those crazy little things are in fussy moments and how Kylie and Connor loved them before they could eat Happy Meals!
Mommy look what I can do!
Sit up! Yes, it's true, I go away for 2 days of meetings downtown and come back to find little Peyton sitting up all by herself! Moments such as these are different the second time around- I think it has to do with somewhat knowing what's to come this time. You become teary eyed because you realize what milestones these truly are in their little development and what a miracle each and every little progression is.
I have to travel to Kansas City for work a few days this week and will be wondering the whole time what I will return to find Peyton doing! There is no doubt in our minds that she will be crawling very soon. Her teachers are betting on June but I think we can see it will be within a matter of days. She gets right up on all fours and rocks back and forth, back and forth. We've also seen one little knee make a move forward but she hasn't seemed to make the connection yet that her arms need to move forward too- so exciting- stay tuned!
